Alaskan Air Command: The mission of AAC was to provide early warning of an aerial attack on the US and Canada. The AAC did this through conducting air defense of Alaska, supporting SAC elements operating through and around Alaska, and performing other operational support missions as directed by the Commander-in-Chief, Alaskan Command HQ and Headquarters USAF. PAPA was the USAF Nickname for Alaskan Air Command Programs
