Direct-to-Material UV-Printed Mahogany Wall and Presentation Plaques
Put your artwork directly onto prepared solid mahogany. Choose a flat printed face or combine printed color with carved relief, then specify a matte, semi-gloss, or gloss finish for an indoor wall display or presentation plaque.
Send your design idea, approximate dimensions, and required arrival date for project review.

Two ways to combine artwork and wood
Flat printing places the artwork on a prepared face without carved relief in the design. Consider this option when your priority is the printed composition: the relationship between the emblem, lettering, colors, and surrounding space.
Printing onto carved relief adds physical dimension before the artwork is printed. Carving creates the raised and recessed form; the printed ink adds the image and color to the prepared carved surface where suitable.
These are two options within UV-printed mahogany. The artwork, dimensions, and relief need practical review to confirm a suitable approach.
How direct-to-material printing works
MilitaryPlaques.com uses Direct-to-Material UV Flatbed Printing. Printheads apply specialized acrylic-based UV-curable inks directly to the prepared material. UV lights then cure, or harden, the applied ink.
The layers have different purposes: mahogany is the substrate; optional carving establishes dimension; preparation, including substrate-appropriate primers or pre-coatings, readies the surface; ink forms the printed artwork.
The available matte, semi-gloss, and gloss finishes determine the surface sheen. Ask for the finish and any project-specific protective coating details to be confirmed in your quote.
UV-curable ink is different from conventional air-drying paint. Its curing process uses UV light to harden the ink during manufacture.
Plan the artwork around the finished plaque
Request a custom outline, emblem, seal, illustration, or presentation layout, subject to practical review. Include any required wording and color references.
Names, dates, and dedications can be incorporated using the inscription approach appropriate to your requirements, including carving, an etched brass plate, or a UV-printed decal. A separately applied inscription decal is distinct from the artwork printed directly onto the plaque.
If exposed wood grain matters to you, say so before approving the design. Surface preparation and ink coverage affect how much wood remains visible.
Dimensions are confirmed for this UV product. The full size range published for traditional carved-mahogany examples is not an automatic UV-printing specification.
The custom plaque design guide can help you organize the wording, emblem, and layout.

Indoor wall displays and presentation pieces
Consider UV-printed mahogany for an office emblem, organizational wall display, personalized award, retirement presentation, or commemorative gift when you want printed artwork on solid wood.
Choose flat printing when physical relief is unnecessary to your composition. Request carved relief when the form itself should contribute to the presentation. If hand-painted color and traditional gloss lacquer are the main priorities, consider the traditional carved-mahogany option.
All mahogany plaques are for indoor use only, including UV-printed versions.
Hanging, stands, and care
Rear keyhole slots provide wall-mounting points. Large plaques may have multiple slots, and the largest may require support brackets. Staff can advise on mounting for the selected plaque.
Presentation stands can be ordered with the plaque or purchased separately.
Keep dry. Consult the current Return & Refund Policy for warranty and return information.
Confirm the specification and schedule
There is no minimum order requirement. Artwork setup and a design mockup are free. Request pricing for your dimensions, flat or carved construction, finish, inscription, and quantity.
Review and approve the proof before production. Changes to the original order or approved artwork may incur charges.
Free standard U.S. shipping is available; confirm coverage and other destination requirements in the quote. Express options and fees require confirmation, and payment plus artwork approval affect scheduling. Give us the date the plaque needs to arrive before placing a time-sensitive order.
Frequently asked questions
Is the main image a sticker attached to the wood?
No. Direct-to-material printing applies ink to the prepared plaque surface. A separately applied UV-printed inscription decal is a different option.
Does “flatbed” mean the plaque cannot have carved relief?
No. Flatbed describes the printing process. MilitaryPlaques.com can also print onto appropriately prepared carved surfaces, subject to project review.
Does UV curing make the plaque suitable for sunlight or outdoor use?
UV curing hardens the ink during production. Resistance to sunlight is a separate property. MilitaryPlaques.com confirms UV-resistant inks, but service life depends on the substrate, installation, and exposure. Mahogany remains indoor-only.
Is UV printing cheaper or faster than hand painting?
Request a project-specific comparison. The production method alone does not establish the final price or delivery schedule.
