## Marine Barracks Washington Seal

[Marine Barracks Washington](http://www.ehow.com/facts_7566482_marine-corps-washington-dc.html) was established in 1801; it has been the residence of the Marines Commandant since 1806. The location of "8th and I"--as it is called--was based on both strategic and national concerns.
