World War II brought the use of "Grasshoppers" as organic air observation for field artillery. The Army's first helicopter, the XR-4 was introduced in the second world war; the H-13 and H-19 during the Korean conflict; the UH-1 Iroquois and AH-1 Cobra in Vietnam, and the AH-64 Apache during Panama and Desert Storm.
