What is Retirement?

Retirement is the point where a person stops employment completely. Many people choose to retire when they are eligible for private or public pension benefits, although some are forced to retire when physical conditions don’t allow the person to work any more (by illness or accident) or as a result of legislation concerning their position. In most countries, the idea of retirement is of recent origin, being introduced during the 19th and 20th centuries. Previously, low life expectancy and the absence of pension arrangements meant that most workers continued to work until death. Germany was the first country to introduce retirement in the 1880s.

Retired workers then support themselves either through pensions or savings. In most cases the money is provided by the government, but sometimes granted only by private subscriptions to mutual funds. In this latter case, subscriptions might be compulsory or voluntary. In some countries an additional “bonus” is granted una tantum (once only) in proportion to the years of work and the average wages; this is usually provided by the employer.

At MilitaryPlaques.Com, we give importance to all our veterans and to our retired military people who took part in serving their country without anything in return. They serve as the new heroes of this generation.

We produce different kinds of retirement plaque, mostly they are customized based from our clients specification. About Veteran’s Day

Veterans Day is intended to honor and thank all military personnel who served the United States in all wars, particularly living veterans and is observed on November 11.

It is celebrated by parades and church services and in many places the American flag is hung at half mast. Some schools are closed on Veterans Day, while others do not close, but choose to mark the occasion with special assemblies or other activities.

History:

The U.S. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed an Armistice Day for 12th November, 1919. And The United States Congress conceded a parallel resolution after 7 years on 4th June, 1926, applying for a President issue another declaration to survey 11th November with proper ceremonies. An Act (52 Stat. 351; 5 U. S. Code, Sec. 87a) permitted 13th May , 1938, made 11th of November in every year an authorized holiday; “a day to be dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be thereafter celebrated and known as ‘Armistice Day’.”

Make this Veterans Day a memorable day to express our gratitude to our heroes who fully dedicated their lives in serving their country!

The Gurkha Justice Campaign

Gurkhas are fighting for Justice. They want the same terms and conditions as their UK and Commonwealth counterparts.

Britain has had no greater friends than the Gurkhas. They have served all across the world in the defence of our Country for nearly 200 years. Over 45,000 died in the two World Wars as part of the British Army. They are still fighting in the British Army today.

You may have seen in the media that the Gurkhas have been fighting in Parliament and the Courts. Step by step, things are getting better – but there is a long way to go.

The Government decision of 25th April 2009 on Gurkha settlement rights is yet another huge betrayal of the Gurkhas who have served our country.

MilitaryPlaques.Com is a US Veteran owned and operated company.  The company supports veterans worldwide and so we fully the UK veterans in their campaign to allow veteran Gurkha servicemen to settle in the UK.

Only a tiny fraction of the Gurkhas who retired before 1997 will win settlement rights under the new policy. A Gurkha will have to have served 20 years or more or won one of a handful of medals: the big majority of Gurkhas served for 15 years under standard army policy.

You can read the full details of the UK Government’s decision online.

The campaign for full Gurkha Justice will now be taken back into Parliament and the courts. The Government needs to know they will have a huge campaign against them who will commit to righting this wrong.
