“When a crisis confronts the nation, the first question often asked by policymakers is: ‘What naval forces are available and how fast can they be on station?’ “– Admiral C.A.H. Trost, USN Chief of Naval Operations Proceedings, May 1990
The United States Navy plays a significant role in protecting and defending the American people. Faithful to their duty, the naval force continue to strive for development and further enhance their military services to the nation. Their mission to protect the nation against foreign aggression and war threats lead to useful developments in terms of technological advancement.
The U.S. is a country with a long maritime heritage. Until the advent of air travel in the mid-twentieth century, all Americans of European, African, and Asian ancestry came to North America by ship. By the time Americans ended their political ties with Great Britain, the North Atlantic became a new frontier that offered expansion.
Nine months before the U.S. declared its independence, Americans already established a functioning naval defense group that symbolizes their sovereignty, national maturity and their determination to fight for control of their seaboard frontier.
Today, U.S. Navy is a known keeper of peace by fighting aggression and preserving the sovereignty of nations. The loyal naval service warfare branch protects national security interests and ensures the peace and stability of the United States and its allies.
