In the United States of America, many organizations, government offices and departments uses different kinds of government seals, state seals, military and department seals. There is a seal for the President of United States, Intelligence and Security Agency Seal and also State Seal Plaques. Military Seals, US Senate seal or US Congress Seals and Department Seals such as Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense Official Seal and Department of Energy.

One of the main purpose of the government is to protect and promote the general welfare of the individuals it governs. Whereby, the seals of each government manifested major services that a city or municipal government should offer such as to promulgate laws or programs pertains to education, poverty and other social concerns.
