VAW-115 "Liberty Bells"
Welcome to Snapper Country!
VAW-115 is the Navy's only forward deployed early warning squadron
home-based at NAF Atsugi, Japan, VAW-115 is a member of the United States only
"911 Airwing. VAW-115 flies the E-2C+ Hawkeye, a high-wing, all-weather,
carrier- and shore-based airborne early warning and control aircraft that
patrols task force vital perimeters. It provides early warning of approaching
enemy aircraft and vectors interceptors into attack position. The Hawkeye can
also provide strike and air traffic control, area surveillance, search and
rescue guidance, navigational assistance, and communications relay

VFA-146 "The Blue Diamonds" Navy Cruise Plaque
The VFA-145 Blue Diamonds began their most recent cruise aboard USS Carl Vinson
on January 17, 2005. The "around-the-world" deployment took them across the
Pacific and Indian Oceans into the Persian Gulf. For three months the Blue
Diamonds, along with the rest of Carrier Air Wing 9, flew missions in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Vinson then turned south to steam around the Sinai
Peninsula into the Red Sea, through the Suez Canal, the Mediterranean Sea, then
across the Atlantic. On July 31, 2005, the Vinson pulled into its new homeport
of Norfolk, VA completing another successful deployment for the Blue Diamond
team.

VAW-117 "The Wallbangers" Navy Cruise Plaque
The squadron was established at NAS North Island, CA on 1 July
1974 as part of Fighter Airborne Early Warning Wing, U. S. Pacific Fleet. In
1981 the Wallbangers joining Carrier Air Wing Eleven for WestPac on board the
USS Enterprise. The Cruise Plaque notes the interesting deployment of
VAW-117 during 2005.
Navy Greenie Board

Greenie Board
This is a prominently displayed aircraft carrier squadron scoreboard where the
landing signal officers rate the pilots’ carrier landings (any color other than
green is bad ). Also called the “weenie board.”

Attack Squadron 136 (VAQ-136) also known as "The Gauntlets". The
Boards feature interchangeable nameplates and landing rating "cards".
The attack squadron forward-deployed to
Naval Air Station Atsugi,
Japan. The
"Gauntlets are an operational fleet squadron and fly the
EA-6B
Prowler. The Gauntlet are attached to
Carrier Air Wing 5 (CVW 5), a composite unit made up of a wide array of
aircraft performing a variety of combat and support missions. The squadron is
currently deployed onboard the
USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63).
